Waffle Recipes

Cheese and Jelly Sandwich

Ingredients
Cream cheese
Waffles
Jelly
Nuts (chopped fine)
Banana

Action
a. Spread half the waffles with cheese,
and half with jelly.

b. Sprinkle the nuts over the cheese,
reserving part of them to use,
with the banana, when desired.

c. Put waffles together, some with 2 of jelly,
or two of cheese, and some with one of each.

d. Wrap them in the waxed paper lining,
of the waffle container.

Peanut Butter waffles

Ingredients
Peanut Butter
Tomatoes
Salad dressing (optional)
Sugar and salt

Action
a. Spread the waffles with a thin layer,
of peanut butter and put together.

b. Peel the tomatoes, cut in halves, and dress them,
with any preferred salad dressing or sprinkle,
with sugar and salt.

c. Put them in a tight cover container.

Almond Waffle

Ingredients
1 tablespoonful of powdered sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 egg white
A few drops of bitter almond essence

Preparation
a. Stir sugar and salt together.

b. Beat the egg white.

c. Add enough flour into sugar,
to make it creamy.

d. Flavour with bitter almond essence.

e. Grease the pan lightly and flour.

f. Drop 1/2 teaspoon of paste on the pan,
and with a wet finger spread,
into a thin round wafer.

g. Bake in 180°C or 356°F oven,
till the edges are lightly browned.

h. Lift each waffle and turn round a stick,
before removing from the oven.

Simple Waffles

Ingredients
3 egg yolks
250 ml milk
3 tablespoons melted butter
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon sugar
240g flour
2 teaspoons baking powder

Action
a. Beat sugar, salt and eggs together well,
and add milk.

b. Stir in baking powder, flour, and butter.

c. Pour in the molds, and bake,
in preheated 180°C or 356°F oven until light brown.

Note: When the batter is too thick,
may add a little more milk.
The batter should be like the pancake dough.

Walnut Waffles

Ingredients
2 eggs
1 teaspoon baking powder (sifted)
200g brown sugar
120g flour (sifted)
1/4 teaspoon
120g walnuts (fine chopped)

Action
a. Beat eggs very light, add sugar,
and the rest.

b. Drop half teaspoon on greased pan,
and bake in preheated 180°C or 356°F oven,
until light brown.

Cider Waffles

Ingredients
210g flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
250 ml milk
2 egg yolks (well beaten)
2 egg whites (stiffed beaten)
1 tablespoon butter (melted)

Boiled Cider
Mix 2 portions of cider to 1 portion,
of sugar, and let it boil until a syrup is form.

Action
a. Mix and sift dry ingredients.

b. Add milk, egg yolks, butter,
and egg whites gradually.

c. Cook on a greased hot waffle-iron.

d. Serve with boiled cider.

Rice Waffles

Ingredients
210g flour
2/3 cup cold-cooked rice
375 ml milk
2 tablespoons sugar
4 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon butter (melted)
1 egg yolk (well beaten)
1 egg white (stiffed beaten)

Action
a. Mix and sift dry ingredients.

b. Work in rice with tips,
of fingers.

c. Add milk, egg yolk, butter,
and white.

d. Cook on a greased hot waffle-iron.

Ingredients
200g brown sugar
300g molasses
220g butter
125 ml cooked coffee
2 teaspoon soda
1 tablespoon ginger

Action
a. Mix ingredients.

b. Roll out very thin and cook,
on a greased hot waffle-iron.

Cheese Waffles

Ingredients
1 cup grated cheese
120g cake flour
110g butter

Action
a. Mix together and roll out thin.

b. Cut into long narrow strips.

c. Bake a few minutes in broiler oven.

d. Serve with salads.

Cocoanut Waffles

Ingredients
3 tablespoons chopped cocoanut
2 teaspoon agar agar powder
4 tablespoons cream
Orange color
1/2 teaspoon rose extract
1 egg white (beaten)
250g confectioners' sugar

Action
a. Dissolve the agar agar in the cream.

b. Add cocoanut, and infuse it,
into a mixture for 15 minutes.

c. Add the color and extract
and allow, to cool slightly.

d. Beat in half of the sugar.

e. Turn out on a board and knead,
in the reminder of the sugar.

f. Roll out and cut in small rounds,
with a cutter.

g. Brush the tops with the egg white,
and sprinkle with chopped cocoanut.
