Tofu recipes are popular in my family.
We used to steam the silken tofu alone, sprinkle over it with hot oil,
soy sauce, deep fried onions and parsley. It is a simple dish,
and it tasted real good.
During those days, my mum only cooked those fresh green asparagus.
I had eaten the white asparagus only from the cans.
I learned to cook the white asparagus only 4 years ago,
when my sister-in-law told me that she was crazy of them.
Shall we first see the tofu recipes?
Deep Fried Tofu
125 ml water
120g self-Rising flour
10 pieces of Firm tofu
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 teaspoon white vinegar
1 tablespoon red pepper strips
a. Wash and dry the tofu on a kitchen cloth.
b. Cut them into small squares.
c. Mix flour and water to paste,
and rest for 10 minutes.
d. Dip the tofu into the flour paste,
and fry them till slightly golden.
e. Drain them, and put them in a pretty plate.
f. Mix the dipping sauce in a small bowl,
and place it next to the tofu.
Special Tofu Recipes
3 pieces firm tofu
3 tablespoons flour
2 tablespoons corn flour
2 teaspoons coriander
1/3 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon sesame oil
1/4 teaspoon soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon sugar
Any sauce or hot chilli.
a. Mix all the ingredients.
b. Spoon the mixture into hot oil,
and fry until golden yellow.
c. Serve with dipping sauce.
Tofu and Cucumber Salad
4 hard tofu (small cubes)
4 eggs (beaten)
1 cucumber (sliced)
140g bean sprouts (Stir fried)
1 stalk celery (diced)
5 cloves of shallot
(sliced, and deep fried on low heat)
4 red chillies (fine chopped)
5 cloves of garlic (sliced,
and deep fried on low heat)
5 cloves of shallot (sliced,
and deep fried on low heat)
300g peanut butter
3 teaspoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon lemon juice
2 teaspoon soy sauce
170 ml boiling water
a. Mix the eggs with tofu cubes,
fry until golden in wok and dish up.
b. Place cucumber slices and bean sprouts on top.
c. Cream ingredients B with boiling water,
and spread on bean sprouts.
d. Garnish with celery dices,
and shallot slices.

300g extra firm tofu (diced)
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ginger (minced)
Spring onion (cut small)
500 ml vegetable soup
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
a. Place seaweed soak in the warm water,
till they are expended, and soft.
b. Rinse them thoroughly, and drain the water away.
Cut them small.
c. Place tofu in the boiling water,
for 5 minutes and drain them.
d. Place the oil in a pan, on the stove.
e. When the oil is hot, add spring onion,
ginger, and stir fried till fragrant.
f. Pour in vegetable soup and cook,
till boiling point.
g. Add seaweed, cook for 10 minutes,
then put in tofu.
h. Cook with cover for 30 minutes,
till the seaweed are totally cooked.
i. Remove from heat, sprinkle salt,

Tofu With Peanut Sauce
a. Cut the tofu into cubes.
b. Fry peanuts with oil, till fragrant.
c. Mix chilli paste, lemon juice,
and sugar into the peanuts.
d. Stir fry the tofu till soft,
add the paste into the tofu,
and serve hot.
